John F. Kennedy Medical Center

Established in 1971, the John F. Kennedy Medical Center (JFKMC) stands as Liberia’s premier institution for tertiary medical care and education, serving not only the nation but also the broader West African region. Named in honor of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, JFKMC has been at the forefront of healthcare delivery and the training of Liberia’s health workforce for over four decades.

The Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility, equipped with advanced diagnostic equipment and staffed by over forty specialist doctors. Since 1978, the government of Liberia has proudly managed and operated the Center, ensuring its role as a cornerstone of the nation’s healthcare system.
